With the musical landscape constantly evolving and the lines between genres getting progressively blurred, NU 107 strives to keep the public abreast of the best in the business. This year, the 16th NU 107 Rock Awards is about providing a clear presentation of what the current state of the local rock scene is. NU 107 Rock Awards '09: High Definition will give focus to the artists who are undeniably at the top of their game, and have reached the summit of OPM supremacy. Be there when the action happens on October 30 at the World Trade Center. Featuring fantastic live performances from BAMBOO, CHICOSCI, THE DAWN, FRANCO, GREYHOUNDZ, ITCHYWORMS, JUAN PABLO DREAM, KAMIKAZEE, KJWAN, PUPIL, RAZORBACK, RICO BLANCO, SANDWICH, SUGARFREE & URBANDUB.
A salute to only the Philippines' finest, the 16th NU 107 Rock Awards will showcase the definitive music-makers of 2009.
The eligibility period for nomination to the 2008 NU 107 ROCK AWARDS is September 1, 2009 to August 31, 2009. Only material released within the eligibility period will be considered, and the selection of individuals or groups should be guided accordingly.
The NU 107 Programming Committee will decide on a maximum of 25 eligibles per category based on artistic and technical merits as well as listener feedback.
- For the category SONG OF THE YEAR, only singles released and given airplay within the eligibility period will be valid.
- For all group categories, i.e. BEST NEW ARTIST, BAND/ARTIST OF THE YEAR, ALBUM OF THE YEAR & LISTENERS’ CHOICE AWARD, potential nominees must have released an album within the eligibility period.
- For all individual categories, i.e. VOCALIST OF THE YEAR, GUITARIST OF THE YEAR, BASSIST OF THE YEAR, DRUMMER OF THE YEAR and PRODUCER OF THE YEAR, potential nominees must have contributed to the production of an album released within the eligibility period.
- Listeners can vote for their favorite artists to be included in the Final List of Nominees by way of online voting.
- All votes will then be collated and will undergo an initial deliberation by the NU 107 Programming Staff.
- Results will then be given to a Board of Judges, normally composed of people in the music industry (but who at present or in the past 3 years were not in any connected with a band.), musicians (but who at present or in the past 3 years were not in any connected with a band nor have released an album), ex-recording company people, music journalists, executives from either Myx or MTV.
- The final results from these judges will then undergo a Final Deliberation from the NU 107 Programming Staff to determine the winners.
